What is McBoot? McBoot is a homebrew application for the PS3 that allows a user to backup a PS3's Memory Unit to a Personal Computer. The Memory Unit can then be transferred back to the PS3 and used with other homebrew applications such as an emulator. What is this release of McBoot? The new release of Mcboot fixes some issues with previous releases where it would fail on some systems when installing files in certain folders such as 'Program Files'. The installer now installs everything in "C:\\McBoot" which should work on almost any PC configuration. The new release also includes a fully featured initial setup program that guides the user through the process of setting up McBoot on their machine. What you need? 1) A PS3 with an internet connection 2) A Memory Card running a custom firmware such as Rogero 4.46 or CFW 4.53 3) Computer running Windows XP or higher 4) A USB Flash Drive, Memory Unit, or Hard Drive 5) This software download from here: download   6) A hex editor for windows is recommended but not necessary, notepad will work just fine if you don't have one How to set up McBoot on your system: 1. Download the package (27.7 MB) 2. Unzip the folder to your hard drive, if you are using Windows do not unzip it right away, unzip it after you finish the set up process 3. This guide will take you through setting up McBoot on your computer, each step can be skipped if you do not want to go that far. This guide assumes that you downloaded the package already 4. Launch InstallMBC64 5. Follow all of the instructions on screen 6. At this point McBoot will be installed on your PC 7. Do not plug in your Memory Card yet 8. Navigate to where you unzipped McBoot's files 9. Open the "mc" folder 10. Drag and drop the files inside the "McBoot" folder into the "mc" folder on your computer 11. You can now plug in your memory card into your computer, you will see a new drive show up called "Removable disk" 12. If you open explorer and navigate to where McBoot is installed, you will see two new folders: mb3 and mbcache 13. Navigate to where you unzipped McBoots files and open the mb3 folder 14. Drag and drop all of the contents of that folder into the 'C:\\McBoot' directory 15. Close that window 16. Open Explorer 17. Navigate to C:\\Mcboot 18. Open the C:\\McBoot\\mc_cache folder and copy the entire directory there, close explorer and restore your pc to factory settings 19. If your PC is reading the Memory Card as a removable disk, go to Start/All Programs/Administrative Tools and open 'Computer Management' 20. Right-click on Removable Disk, select 'Properties', then click on the 'Permissions' tab 21. Click on Roles 22. Click "add new user" 23. Type in a new Administrator name (you can call yourself something else if you want) 24.
